About me

THerapist

I’m Tania Glyde. I’m a psychotherapist/counsellor in private practice in London UK. I work mainly with clients who are GSRD (Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversity) identified: LGBTQIA+, consensually non-monogamous/polyamorous, kinky/BDSM identified, and sex workers. Pronouns: they/she.

AUTHOR

Before training as a therapist I was an author and worked in the arts and media. (Published work.)

I have a chapter in Erotically Queer - A Pink Therapy Guide for Practitioners: ‘Queer Menopause: working with the LGBTQIA+ menopausal client’. Published 2023.

LGBTQIA+ Menopause - Room for Improvement appeared in The Lancet in 2022.

I gave evidence to UK Parliament in 2021 on LGBTQIA+ experiences of menopause in the workplace. (Ref: MEW0087 or my name.)

My research into LGBTQIA+ menopause was published in 2021: ‘How can therapists and other healthcare practitioners best support and validate their queer menopausal clients?’ (Full text available here.)

PERSON IN MENOPAUSE

I’ve been in post menopause for over eight years. I was in perimenopause, I reckon, for around 10 years before that. Like so many others, for most of that time I had no idea what was going on. If I’d had the right information in advance it would have saved me (and many doctors) a lot of time - and perhaps spared me a lot of challenging life experiences.

So why did no one explain it all? Why did I hit a succession of brick walls when I tried to get help? Why is there still such a postcode lottery in the UK around menopause knowledge? And why is there such resistance to making resources accessible to people who are LGBTQIA+?
