Menopause - Agent of Queerness? New conference video!
AltSex NYC conference presentation
Earlier this year I had the pleasure of presenting at the 6th annual AltSex NYC conference to an audience of sex therapists, educators and assorted other interested folks.
Video now online
My talk was called ‘Menopause - Agent of Queerness?’ and you can find the video on YouTube here. In this talk I follow on from my research, do a menopause explainer, and explore both queer experiences of menopause, and the idea of menopause as itself queer.
About AltSex NYC
As the organisers say: ‘The AltSex NYC Conference is a forum designed to disseminate information in a respectful, sex positive, and affirmative manner, including but not limited to kink and BDSM, polyamory and consensual non-monogamy, non-binary identifications, and non-traditional relationship and kinship structures.’
It was a fascinating day with a lot of really excellent speakers and I was glad to be a part of it. AltSex NYC well deserves its AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists) approved status.
I loved the crossover between therapy, sex education, and somatics that was happening there. I hope to see more of it over here in UK too.
